Welcome to the seventh season of the San Jose Mercado Organico (SJMO)! This season's market will officially begin on Saturday the 7th of November, 2009 at “La Huerta Maria” (Located directly in front of the Jockey Club / Road to Las Animas) near downtown San Jose Del Cabo.

This season's market will be in operation each Saturday from
November 7th 2009 through May 29th 2010
9 am - 3 pm

We welcome your participation and look forward to building on the success that the market has enjoyed in previous years.

A few of the things that make the San Jose Mercado Organico something special:

  • We strive to create a multicultural market by providing an event for the sales of locally grown organic produce, prepared food, arts and crafts, community and educational activities, and resources.
  • The products and activities originate from our community and reflect what is produced, created, and grown in our local area.
  • A emphasis on education and ecological awareness and how we all can minimize our impact on the environment while moving toward a greener
    future.
  • Provide a gathering place where members of the community can encounter products produced in the area and where both producers and consumers can get
    to know each other and interact directly.
  • We also promote and emphasize the importance of low impact ecological/sustainable packaging, recycling, and producer/buyer awareness, which not only educates but improves the quality of life of the community.

Your 10% contribution from market day sales goes toward the costs associated with market operations such as rent, personnel, promotions, fees, etc.  Please remember that each vendor’s contribution makes it possible to operate and maintain the market.

Please read our rules and regulations for the San Jose Mercado Organico. These rules have been created and reviewed by a volunteer committee of SJMO friends and members.  They are the basic set of rules by which the Market will operate and are subject to adjustment or change by the SJMO rules committee. The vendors who apply for participation in the organic market are obligated to agree to these rules.

MARKET RULES AND REGULATIONS 2009 - 2010

REGISTRATION

Vendors wishing to participate in opening day November 7th of the 2009-2010 market are requested to submit a vendor application at least 2 weeks prior to the market opening.  Vendor applications are available online here . A vendor meeting will be held at the market site, La Huerta Maria on Saturday October 24th.  Applications may be obtained and submitted at this meeting. All former vendors and those interested in becoming venders are urged to attend.  Vendors that participated in last year’s market are encouraged to attend in order to reserve their previous booth/vendor space.  Assignment of booth/vendor spaces is based on space availability with preference given to last year’s level of attendance, sales contributions and category of products or services offered.

Vendors wishing to participate after the market opening date of November 7th are requested to register in advance of the Saturday they wish to commence participation.  Applications are available online here and at the Market Information Booth.

The official market hours for the 2009-2010 season are from 9 am to 3 pm. Vehicles will be allowed into the market sales area beginning at 8 am for set up and unloading.  All vehicles must exit the market sales area by 8:45 am.

Perspective vendors who show up at the Market without prior registration must check in at the SJMO Information Booth upon arrival, with the understanding that their application may not be reviewed until after 9am. There is no guarantee that onsite registration will ensure participation in that day’s market activities, however the Market Coordinator will try to accommodate eligible new vendors after all pre registered vendors are in place.

Vendors that have not participated in the past years market will receive an ID # with their name and assigned a space once their applications are approved and all market requirements are met.

All items to be sold at the market are subject to inspection by the SJMO Market Committee to ensure they conform to the mission, rules, regulations, and expectations of the Organic Market.

COOPERATION

All vendors are required to pay a 10% cooperation fee of their total gross sales for each market day. Each vendor must turn in an individual Market Activity Card that includes all sales amounts noted along with their 10% cooperation fee at the end of each market day to an SJMO representative.  Cards may not be turned in before the end of vendor sales for the market day. The fee amount will be verified by a market representative in the presence of the vendor.
 
The SJMO is entirely supported by these vendor contributions which are used to pay all of the expenses of the market including rent, maintenance, salaries, and promotions, etc.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR THE VENDORS

In order to maintain a positive relationship between vendors and consumers, all the products for sale by vendors should be predominately produced by the vendors themselves.

Other items may be sold by venders acting as an agent of other producers – if, and only if, such products are eligible and enhance the diversity of the market.  Such items may not comprise the majority of a vendor's daily sales. The vendor must register all products that fall into this category to the SJMO Market Coordinator in advance of their presentation or sale. These products will be reviewed by a SJMO committee, who has authority to disallow at any time any product or service if deemed not in the best interest of the entire market.

Other products, services, or resources will be evaluated on a case by case basis prior to their approval for sales at the Market.

PETS / ANIMALS

There will be absolutely NO pets allowed within the area of the Market. The only exception will be service animals such as necessary to assist unsighted or handicapped individuals.

POLICY ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

The possession and use of drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated and the proper authorities will be notified in all such cases.

FOOD PRODUCTS

All food prepared at and for the Market must be prepared in accordance with the sanitary regulations established by the Los Cabos Municipality and State and Federal laws. All required permits and fees must be valid and up to date.  These permits are subject to inspection by the market management.  All permits and food safety requirements are the responsibility of each individual vendor.

By signing an application form, all food vendors acknowledge that the SJMO is not in any way responsible for permit or food safety compliance by individual vendors.

Ask the Market Coordinator or go directly to the "Cordinacion de Regulacion Sanitaria" located on Calle Manuel Doblado near the center of San Jose del Cabo.

The adherence to and the conscious consideration of good hygiene practices helps keep everyone safe and healthy. Please keep in mind that ingredients used to prepare food be from local sources and organic if at all possible and/or available.  Also, please try to use the least amount of packaging products (especially items which are not biodegradable such as plastic and Styrofoam containers). We suggest the use of paper or biodegradable items whenever possible. The use of plastic non biodegradable disposable bags is not allowed unless recycled from prior use.

ARTESANS

All artworks and artistic creations (jewelry, clothes, etc.) on sale should be an original creation made by the vendor/s. Please maintain a preference for using local, sustainable materials when possible.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

Vendors may sell books, pamphlets, etc. as long as they are educational, cultural, or environmental in nature and in accordance with the San Jose Organic Market’s mission.

Workshops, instructional activities must be coordinated in advance of each market with the Market Coordinator.

TRASH

All vendors are responsible for the trash they create, as well as the trash created by their customers. The trash cans at the market are for public use. Vendors are asked to contribute to the maintenance of the market site by hauling garbage generated by their stand away from the site to a location where it can be properly disposed. Before leaving the Market, please check to make sure that your area is in order and that no trash or debris is left behind.

NO SMOKING

In order to project a healthy, family oriented image of the Market, we ask that there be No Smoking within the market/sales area.  Vendors violating the no smoking policy may lose their right to exhibit at future markets.

ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITY AND EDUCATIONAL GROUPS

Non-profit organizations, educational, environmental, or community groups are welcome to participate at the Market. These groups may or may not sell items at the Market. In the case of sales they will asked to contribute the same 10% of daily sales as other venders, unless explicitly exempted by the SJMO Market Committee.  Please inquire and coordinate proposed activities with the Market Coordinator

VENDOR CONDUCT

All vendors are considered independent businesses and are responsible for creating a respectful, tolerant, and all around good atmosphere for all. The vendors are responsible for keeping their areas clean, their prices just, their booth/spaces safe and well maintained.  They are required to respect the space of their fellow vendors and treat their clients and fellow vendors in a friendly and dignified manner.  Venders are asked to respect the Market site.  Alterations, damage or theft will not be tolerated,

Each vendor is responsible for conducting business according to Local, State and National rules, ordinances, laws and legal business procedures, including all applicable taxes. 

All vendors of foreign origin are required to maintain their own individual immigration and work status in accordance with national law. The San Jose Organic Market assumes no responsibility for the actions, legal status or liabilities of vendors, their associates, partners or employees.

Bienvenidos a la Séptima Temporada del Mercado Orgánico de San José (SJMO)! Que en esta ocasión iniciará oficialmente el Sábado 7 de Noviembre del 2009 en la Huerta María (localizado enfrente del Jockey Club camino hacia Las Animas) cerca del centro de San José del Cabo.

Apreciamos  su participación esperando construir sobre el éxito que el mercado ha logrado en años anteriores.

Algunos puntos que hacen del Mercado Orgánico algo especial:

  • Nos esforzamos por crear un Mercado multicultural proporcionando un espacio para la venta de productos orgánicos locales, alimentos preparados, artesanías, actividades y recursos educativos para la comunidad.
  • Los productos y las actividades son originarios de nuestra comunidad y reflejan lo producido, creado y cosechado en la localidad.
  • Enfatizamos la educación y la conciencia ecológica así como la manera en que todos podemos minimizar nuestro impacto en el ambiente mientras avanzamos hacia un futuro más verde.
  • Proporciona un lugar de reunión donde miembros de la comunidad pueden encontrar productos locales donde productores y consumidores pueden conocerse e interactuar directamente.
  • También promovemos y acentuamos la importancia de empaques ecológico/sostenibles de bajo impacto, del reciclaje, y la concientización de productor/comprador, que no sólo educa sino que mejora la calidad de vida de la comunidad.

Su contribución del 10% sobre la venta del día de mercado, es destinado a financiar los costos asociados con las operaciones del mismo; como renta, personal, promociones, cuotas, etc. Por favor recuerde que la contribución de cada vendedor hace posible operar y mantener este mercado.

Por favor, lea nuestras normas y reglas del Mercado Orgánico de San José. Estas normas han sido creadas y acordadas por un comité de miembros y amigos del Mercado Orgánico. Estas son la serie de reglas y normas básicas con las que El Mercado operará y serán susceptibles de ajuste o cambio por el comité correspondiente. Los vendedores que soliciten participación en el Mercado Orgánico están obligados a aceptar estas reglas.

NORMAS Y REGLAS DEL MERCADO 2009 - 2010

INSCRIPCIÓN.
Los vendedores que deseen participar en la apertura del Mercado el día 7 de noviembre del 2009, deberán presentar una solicitud de vendedor por lo menos 2 semanas antes de la apertura del Mercado. Las solicitudes de vendedor están disponibles en línea en (http://www.sanjomo.com/aspx/m/578324) Habrá una junta de vendedores el sábado 24 de Octubre en el sitio del mercado ubicado en  la Huerta María. Las solicitudes pueden ser obtenidas y presentadas en esta junta. Todos los vendedores existentes y aquellos interesados en ser vendedores deberán asistir. Los vendedores que fueron parte del Mercado el año pasado, deberán asistir para reservar su espacio de puesto/vendedor anterior. La asignación de lugares de cada puesto/vendedor esta basada en la disponibilidad de espacio, dando preferencia a su nivel de asistencia del año pasado, contribución de ventas y categoría de los productos o servicios ofrecidos.

A los Vendedores que deseen participar después de la apertura del Mercado el día 7 de noviembre, se les pide registrarse por adelantado de la fecha en la que deseen comenzar su participación. Las solicitudes están disponibles en línea (http://www.sanjomo.com/aspx/m/578324) y en el puesto de información del Mercado.

El horario oficial del Mercado para la temporada 2009-2010 es de 9 am a 3 pm. Los vehículos serán permitidos en el área de ventas a las 8 am para descargar e instalar su puesto. Todos los vehículos deberán salir del área de ventas a las 8:45 am.

Los vendedores potenciales que se presenten sin previo registro tendrán que darse de alta a su llegada en el puesto de información del Mercado, bajo el entendimiento de que su solicitud no podrá ser revisada hasta después de las 9 am.  Al registrarse de esta manera No hay garantía de participación en las actividades del mismo día. Sin embargo, el coordinador del Mercado tratara de dar cabida a los nuevos vendedores que reúnan los requisitos una vez que todos los vendedores prerregistrados estén en su lugar.

Los vendedores que no han sido parte del Mercado en años anteriores recibirán una identificación con numero, nombre y espacio asignado una vez que su solicitud haya sido aprobada y los requisitos del Mercado cumplidos. Todos los productos son susceptibles de inspección por el Comité del SJMO para asegurar que cumplan con la misión, normas, reglas y expectativas del Mercado.

COOPERACIÓN

Es obligatorio que todos los vendedores paguen la cuota del 10% del total de sus ventas brutas de cada día de venta. Cada vendedor deberá entregar individualmente su Tarjeta de Actividad de Mercado a un representante del SJMO al final de cada día de mercado, que incluye todas las cantidades de venta junto con su cuota de cooperación del 10%. La cuota será verificada por un representante en presencia del vendedor.

El SJMO se mantiene enteramente con estas cuotas de los vendedores, que se utilizan para cubrir todos los gastos incluyendo renta, mantenimiento, salarios y promociones, etc.

REGLAS Y EXPECTATIVAS PARA LOS VENDEDORES
A fin de mantener una relación positiva entre los vendedores y los consumidores, todos los productos a la venta deberán ser producidos predominantemente por los mismos vendedores.

Otros artículos podrán ser ofrecidos por los vendedores actuando como agentes de otros productores, si y solo si dichos productos cumplen con los requisitos y aumentan la diversidad del mercado. Dichos artículos no deberán representar la mayoría de las ventas diarias del vendedor. El vendedor deberá registrar los productos que entren en esta categoría ante un representante del SJMO previo a su oferta. Estos artículos serán revisados por un comité del SJMO quien tendrá la autoridad de rechazar cualquier producto o servicio que se juzgue inapropiado para los intereses del Mercado.

Otros productos, servicios o recursos serán evaluados caso por caso previo a su aprobación para venta en el mercado.

MASCOTAS / ANIMALES
No se permitirá absolutamente ningún animal dentro del área del mercado. La única excepción serán animales de servicio como los necesarios para asistir a personas con discapacidad.

POLITICA SOBRE DROGAS Y ALCOHOL
La posesión y uso de drogas y alcohol no serán tolerados y en todo caso las autoridades correspondientes serán notificadas.

PRODUCTOS COMESTIBLES
Toda comida preparada en el mercado debe ser elaborada de acuerdo con las disposiciones sanitarias establecidas por el Municipio de Los Cabos y las leyes Estatal y Federal. Todos los permisos y cuotas requeridos deberán ser válidos y estar al día. Estos permisos podrán ser revisados por la administración del mercado. Todo permiso y requerimiento sanitario es responsabilidad de cada vendedor.

Al firmar la solicitud, todo vendedor de comida reconoce que el SJMO no es responsable en ninguna manera de los permisos y/o la conformidad sanitaria.

Pregunte al Coordinador del Mercado o vaya directamente a la “Coordinación de Regulación Sanitaria” localizada en a calle Manuel Doblado cerca del centro de San José del Cabo.

El apego y la consideración consciente  de buenas practicas de higiene ayuda a mantener a todos a salvo y saludables. Por favor tenga en mente que los ingredientes utilizados para preparar comida sean de fuentes locales y orgánicos si es posible. Además, por favor trate de utilizar la menor cantidad de empaque posible (especialmente artículos que no son biodegradables como plástico y contenedores de espuma de poliestireno). Sugerimos el uso de artículos de papel o biodegradables cuando sea posible. El uso de bolsas desechables no biodegradables no es permitido al menos que sean recicladas.

ARTESANOS
Toda creación artística (joyería, ropa, etc.) a la venta, deberá ser una obra original hecha por el/los vendedor /es. En la medida de lo posible se pide tener preferencia por el uso de materiales locales, sostenibles.

MATERIAL EDUCATIVO
Los vendedores pueden ofrecer libros, panfletos, etc. siempre que sean educativos, culturales o medio ambientalistas en su naturaleza y de acuerdo con la misión del SJMO. Los Talleres y las actividades educativas deberán ser coordinadas con anterioridad a cada día de mercado con el Coordinador del Mercado.

BASURA
Todos los vendedores son responsables de la basura que generan, así como de la generada por sus clientes. Los contenedores para basura en el mercado son para uso público. Se pide a los vendedores contribuir al mantenimiento del sitio del mercado llevando la basura generada por su puesto a un lugar donde pueda ser debidamente desechada. Antes de partir del Mercado, favor de asegurarse de que su área está en orden y que no hay basura o desecho.

NO FUMAR
Con el fin de proyectar una imagen  saludable y familiar del mercado, pedimos No Fumar dentro de el área del mercado/venta. Los vendedores que no acaten esta política de No fumar podrían perder su derecho de vender en el mercado.

ORGANIZACIONES, GRUPOS EDUCATIVOS Y COMUNITARIOS
Son bienvenidos a participar en el mercado organizaciones sin fines de lucro, educativas, ambientalistas o grupos comunitarios. Estas agrupaciones pueden o no vender artículos en el mercado. En el caso de vender algún producto, se les pedirá su contribución del 10% de las ventas del día como los demás vendedores, a menos de estar explícitamente exentos de esta cuota por el comité del SJMO. Favor de preguntar y coordinar actividades propuestas con el Coordinador del Mercado.

CONDUCTA DEL VENDEDOR
Cada vendedor es considerado como negocio independiente y es responsable de crear una atmosfera respetable, tolerante y buena en general para todos. Los vendedores son responsables de mantener sus áreas limpias, sus precios justos, su espacio/stand seguro y en buenas condiciones. Es necesario que respeten a sus compañeros vendedores así como su espacio y traten a los clientes y compañeros vendedores de manera amigable y digna. Igualmente, se debe respetar el sitio del mercado. No se tolerarán alteraciones, daño o robo.

Cada vendedor es responsable de conducir su negocio de acuerdo a las reglas, ordenanzas, leyes y procedimientos de comercio locales, estatales y federales incluyendo todo impuesto aplicable.

Todos los vendedores de origen extranjero deberán mantener su situación de inmigración y trabajo de acuerdo con la ley. El Mercado Orgánico de San José no asume responsabilidad por las acciones, situación legal o pasivos de los vendedores, sus asociados o empleados.
